About The Ritson/Dyson Family Tree

Firstly, welcome to my family tree!  Please sign my guestbook before you leave.

My maiden name Ritson was first used in Cheshire in 1067 where they were 
descendents of Hugh D'Avranche, Earl Lupus of Chester. Spelling variations 
include Richardson, Richerson, Richard, Richards and Richarson. It is Germanic 
and means power, brave.  The name was popularised by the Normans. The first 
recorded spelling of the family name is shown to be that of Robert Ritson, 
which was dated April 8th 1565.

My mothers maiden name Dyson originates from England, probably Yorkshire.  This 
interesting surname is a pet form of the medieval female given name "Dennis", 
itself deriving from the Greek female personal name "Dionysia". The surname is 
most common in Norfolk, but it is also found in Yorkshire. The first recording 
of the name dates back to the late 13th Century. Variations in the idiom of the 
spelling include: Disson, Dison and Dyason. The first recorded spelling of the 
family name is shown to be that of Richard Dysun, which was dated 1275, in 
the "Hundred Rolls of London", during the reign of King Edward 1, 1272 - 1307. 

My married name Malocco derives from the Italian name Magliocco.  It's name 
means "the evil eye".  Other variants include Malocca.

Over the past few years I have discovered a few "famous" faces in my tree.  A 
few examples include William the Conqueror, Alfred the Great, Henry I & II, 
King John, Lady Godiva & William Marshall (who was a Knight's Templar).  Also 
some interesting names popped up, namely Odin, Frigga, Frey, Freya, Balder & a 
few other "Norse Gods" names...

Getting Around

Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list.
